A vehicle smashed into Chaang Thai, a restaurant in northeast Colorado Springs, Tuesday afternoon, leaving behind broken windows and a door ripped from its hinges.

The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to law enforcement. No injuries to the owners or any employees were reported.

The driver of the vehicle was cited on scene with reckless driving, police say.

By the afternoon, the store, at 7525 North Academy Blvd., was boarded up with a sign out front letting customers know the business will be closed for a few days. The sign also had a note encouraging people to visit the restaurant’s sister store, Elephant Thai on Academy Boulevard.

The Gazette reached out to the owner of Chaang Thai but has not yet received a response.

This incident preceded a smash-and-grab involving a car that took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Galaxy Glass, a smoke shop near Valley Hi Golf Course, was hit for the second time this year despite prevention efforts in place, the owner said.
