One person is dead following a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday evening, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police said just before 8:30 p.m., Tuesday officers received reports of a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Milton E. Proby Parkway and Academy Boulevard.

Police on scene discovered a crashed motorcycle and its driver, who was pronounced dead. The department’s Major Crash Unit arrived and led the investigation, officials said.

Initial investigative efforts found the motorcycle driver was traveling westbound on Milton E. Proby Parkway, failed to navigate a curve, and crashed, striking the guardrail, according to officials.

Speed is considered a factor in the crash, police said.
