Longtime Colorado Springs Italian eatery celebrates 50 anniversary | Table Talk
Fifty and going strong.
P74 The Downtown Panino’s, 604 N. Tejon St., a family-owned business, is celebrating being open since June 1974, with a Boyle Lunch Bunch, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. June 22.
“The owners are offering 10 of their most popular dishes for 50% off,” said Boyle, who will broadcast his “Mike Boyle Restaurant Show” 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the eatery during the event.
Boyle’s advice: “Come and have lunch and take a different dish home for dinner.”
A few of the choices for the event include the grinder, the Italian, the Popeye (chicken breast with bacon) sandwiches, fettuccine Alfredo and lasagna.
Christina Frasca-Lashwood is the third generation to operate the Tejon Street restaurant, which she does with her husband, Bobby Lashwood.
Her grandparents Tony and Evey Frasca opened their Pizza Plus in 1974. In 1984, their son, Mike, bought the business. He rebranded it Panino’s Restaurant in 1992 for the popular panino sandwiches his mom had created for the eatery.
“We bought the Tejon Street Panino’s from my dad, Mike, in 2022,” Christina said. “We rebranded this store P74 The Downtown Panino’s to bring our own touches to the place and make a visual difference.”
There are two other Colorado Panino’s Restaurants, which are also owned by third-generation members of the Frasca family: at 1721 S. 8th St. in Colorado Springs, owned by AJ Frasca; and 310 W. Prospect Road in Fort Collins, owned by Marie (Frasca) and Jon Beck.
P74’s hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Details: 719-635-7452, paninosdowntown.com.
