Colorado Springs weather: Sunny but cool Thursday, with slight chance of showers

Colorado Springs residents should expect sunny skies early Thursday, with cooler temperatures and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

“An early morning cold front that has brought clouds and a few sprinkles to the Pikes Peak Region and Pueblo County will give way to clearing skies as we approach the lunch hour,” said Meteorologist Alan Rose. “The cold front will drop highs today by around 3-10 degrees from what we saw yesterday, with 60s and low 70s on the plains.”

Skies are expected to turn partly to mostly cloudy Thursday afternoon, Rose said.

“Where we could see a shower would be the far Eastern Plains, with the best chances between Highway 50 and I-70,” Rose said.

Temperatures should rebound on Friday, with highs near 70 degrees, before cooling back down on Saturday, according to KOAA.

Here’s the extended forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday: A slight chance of showers between noon and 3 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 15 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 59. Breezy, with an east wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southeast 15 to 20 mph in the morning.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Breezy, with a south wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
