Juvenile arrested in connection with Easter homicide in Fountain
A juvenile boy was arrested for his alleged part in the death of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway employee near the railroad tracks in Fountain on Easter Sunday of 2023, according to a news release.
Fountain police in their news release said on the morning of April 9, 2023, personnel with the Fountain Fire Department received reports of an unresponsive man lying near the railroad tracks in the area of Alegre Circle and U.S. 85/87 in Fountain.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office later in the day identified the man as 31-year-old Christian Cook, and ruled his death a homicide, police said.
On Monday, police obtained an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old juvenile boy on the charges of second-degree murder in connection to the Easter 2023 homicide — more than a year since Cook’s body was found.
The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to a detention center, police said.
Due to the suspect’s status as a minor, his name will not be released to the public.
Department officials are asking anyone carrying information, or who may have been a witness to this investigation, to call the Fountain police tip line at 719-382-6918.
