Colorado Springs student taken into custody for allegedly bringing gun to school, police say
Colorado Springs police took a student into custody on Monday after learning that he had brought a gun to school, officials said.
At about noon on Monday, the Police Department responded to a call about a student with a handgun at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy, a charter school in the northeast part of the city. Witnesses told officers that the student had been showing the pistol to schoolmates, but had not threatened anyone with it. The student also had ammunition on campus, police said.
Officers took the student into custody and are working to determine how he obtained the weapon, according to CSPD officials.
