What was a dogfight early quickly turned into a drubbing on Saturday.

Air Force held a two-point lead with seven minutes left in the first half, but after that, it was all Boise State. The Broncos rolled the Falcons 94-56 for Air Force’s most lopsided loss of the season.

There were eight lead changes in the first 13 minutes of the game. But when Boise State took a 28-27 lead with 3:42 left in the first half, that was the last one.

The Broncos ended the first half on a 16-0 run. It marked Air Force’s second game in a row allowing a 16-point run, as Wyoming went on one on Tuesday.

Boise State’s momentum didn’t stop there.

The Broncos (15-6, 7-2 Mountain West) continued to outplay the Falcons in almost every area, holding a 40-point lead late in the game. Boise State outscored Air Force 58-18 in a 20-minute stretch of the game.

Junior forward Tyson Degenhart was pivotal to Boise State’s onslaught. He ended the game with a career-high 29 points on 11-of-12 shooting.

Degenhart was one of five Broncos in double figures along with Chibuzo Agbo, O’Mar Stanley, Max Rice and Roddie Anderson III.

Jeffrey Mills led Air Force with 17 points, tying his career high. Beau Becker ended the game with 12.

Boise State shot 60% from the field for the game and scored 30 points in the paint, while Air Force shot a dismal 35%. The Broncos also shot 56% (15-of-27) on 3-pointers.

Boise State moves into a tie with Utah State for first place in the Mountain West with the win. The Broncos’ drubbing comes after they beat New Mexico 86-78 on Wednesday.

Air Force (8-13, 1-8) is tied for last in the Mountain West with San Jose State. The Falcons’ only conference win came against UNLV on the road Jan. 23.

The Falcons host San Diego State on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
