Former Vista Ridge standout Brayden Dorman to enter transfer portal

Former Vista Ridge standout quarterback Brayden Dorman, who was a freshman at the University of Arizona in the 2023 season, announced that he is entering the transfer portal on Monday.

Dorman’s announcement comes a day after Arizona coach Jedd Fisch accepted the head coaching job at the University of Washington on Sunday. Fisch replaces Kalen DeBoer, who led Washington to the National Championship Game before accepting the head coaching job at Alabama, replacing the retiring Nick Saban.

Dorman posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he will have four years of eligibility remaining.

“All of the relationships I have built here will last a lifetime,” Dorman said in the post. “It has been an absolute honor to be a part of such a special program. I am putting my faith in God’s hands to guide me in the right direction.”

Dorman did not appear in any games for Arizona during the 2023 season. The Wildcats finished the year 10-3 and defeated Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl.

In four years at Vista Ridge, Dorman threw for 10,285 yards and 116 touchdowns. Dorman was rated a four-star prospect in high school and chose Arizona over Colorado, Iowa State and Wisconsin, among other power-five programs.

Student-athletes who enter the NCAA transfer portal are allowed to return to their original schools, but entering the portal is a necessary step for players to gauge interest from other programs.

Vista Ridge’s Brayden Dorman passes against Fruita Monument on Saturday.
