Colorado Winter Olympians Daily Recap: Shiffrin competes in Super-G

Mikaela Shiffrin raced in the women’s Super-G on Feb. 10 at the 2022 Winter Olympics, crossing the finish line with a big smile on her face.

She didn’t win. Instead coming in ninth, still a solid performance considering its a speed discipline, which she does not regularly train or compete. But, more importantly, she was able to complete her run after missing the gate in her first two events.

Shiffrin, a three-time Olympic medalist, hasn’t reached the podium yet these games. But she has two more chances and now has a complete race under her belt.

On the snowboard halfpipe — where Shaun White took his final lap — Steamboat’s Taylor Gold finished in fifth. He put together a great first run, leading early before the rest of the pack caught up to him.

Over to the ice, where Nicole Hensley and the U.S. women’s hockey team beat Czech Republic 4-1 in Quarterfinals.
