A pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car in Colorado Springs Friday evening has been identified, according to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

Ramon Grajeda-Gonzales, 50, died from injuries suffered when he tried to cross the southbound lanes of North Academy Boulevard between East San Miguel and East Uintah streets, at 6:20 p.m. Friday, according to police. Investigators determined that Grajeda-Gonzales was jaywalking at the time he was hit.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and is not believed to have been impaired or speeding, police said.

Grajeda-Gonzales’ death is the 47th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, according to police.
