Take 10: Ian’s ‘Gott’ beautiful music for Colorado Springs and beyond

A mix of modern, folk, rock and classical rock influences from artists such as Tom Petty and Paul Simon is the blend that Colorado Springs musician Ian Gott will perform for our live Take 10 program at noon Friday on our Gazette News Facebook platform.

Gott said you can describe his performance as: “An artist who is lyrically unafraid. The lyrics are the biggest part of what I do. I am not afraid of using them in a way that makes me look vulnerable and weak. To me, it’s a cathartic exercise to say the stuff I’m afraid to say in a normal social situation.”

He has been playing since he was 7, after he sneaked into his Mom’s closet and found an acoustic guitar. His mother said it was time to teach him music, and he was hooked on sound and being creative.

Although Gott has a flourishing career playing gigs in Colorado Springs, he says all of his big musical opportunities arose in South Korea. He continues to return to South Korea to bring his style of music to the Far East.

He says he’s played music festivals, been featured in magazines and on television, and has toured with a band called SouthWay, playing drums with that group during a major rock festival.

Gott’s instrument arsenal includes acoustic guitar, drums, keyboards, mandolin, banjo and pedal tones played with his feet.

The sky is the limit for Gott and his music, and you can see and hear him during the noon hour Friday on our Gazette News Facebook platform of our Take 10 program.

If you’re a musician, magician, poet, playwright or otherwise wow live crowds, I want to hear from you. Email me at eric.singer@gazette.com so you can do your thing on a live Take 10 performance for our Gazette News Facebook family.
