A woman fought off an intruder who forced his way into her south Colorado Springs apartment Friday morning and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.

The attack at the apartment in the 800 block of Bayfield Way south of Quail Lake happened around 7:15 a.m.

The woman told police she did not recognize the attacker and the man fled after she struggled with him.

The assailant was described as a white male, in his 30s, about 6 feet tall, very skinny, with a disheveled look. The suspect had short dirty blonde hair, green eyes, and scraggly facial hair. He appeared to have long facial features and a gauge in at least one of his ears. The suspect may have sustained scratches or injuries to his face or body in the struggle with the woman, according to police.
