Chevy Impala: Well-equipped to haul the whole crew comfortably

Since its broad redesign in 2014, Chevy’s 5-passenger sedan has developed an allure for family’s seeking a well-equipped hauler that can tote the entire gang around comfortably, with an economical budget.

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala is thoughtfully designed, high-tech, with admirable efficiency and gives car buyers a strong contender in this class.

Increasing its connectivity capabilities from previous versions, the 2016 Impala introduces Apple CarPlay and wireless charging technology to help drivers stay connected anytime, anywhere.  Through Apple CarPlay, the Impala infotainment system delivers an easy to use, intuitive approach integrated with a touchscreen.

The wireless charging feature involves a charging pad located in front of the shifter that draws electricity to the device, and the charge time is comparable to wired charging. Freshly upgraded Bluetooth-interfaced OnStar telematics and GM’s 4G LTE WiFi hotspot connectivity, are combined with a CD player, six speakers, and an additional USB port in the 2016 models. Upgraded trims can further add HD Radio, Internet radio, and satellite radio, as well as smartphone apps and an SD memory-card slot.

Building on their dual-cockpit interior, Chevy has increased attention to detail in the flow of the instrument panel, ambient lighting, soft touch materials and luxury appearance.  The instrument cluster integrates multi-dimensional gauges and a driver information center with 4.2 inch screen.  The center stack is cohesive with the instrument panel and includes climate controls and Chevy MyLInk.

Augmented connectivity in the Impala offers text-to-voice features, Siri Eyes Free for iPhone, and voice-controlled connectivity.  An optional eight-inch color touchscreen and multiple USB ports are available, as well as navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, and OnStar Guidance with automatic crash response, stolen vehicle assistance, RemoteLink Key Fob Services, and vehicle diagnostics.

Cloth seats are standard, but cloth/vinyl seats are found in the LT model while leather surfaces can be had on LT and LTZ models.  Additional upgrades include remote start, passive entry/exit, keyless start, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, a rear-view camera, and rear parking sensors among others.

For 2016 the Impala is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models with a standard 2.5 liter SAE-certified engine generating 196 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. torque, and fuel-saving start-stop technology. An available 3.6 V-6 engine is powered by 305 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. torque, which is the highest horsepower output in its segment, from a naturally aspirated V-6 engine.  Each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

A comprehensive compilation of standard safety options is enhanced by an impressive list of available safety features.  The 2016 Chevrolet Impala earned a top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Standard safety equipment includes 10 standard airbags, electronic stability control, traction control and antilock brakes.  Advanced technologies include crash avoidance, visual and audible alerts such as Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Alert, and rear park assist and rear view camera.

Delightfully, the Impala takes on road bumps and blows painlessly, while the interior keeps it nice and quiet with low volumes of wind and road noise. Demonstrating responsive handling and sleek styling drivers appreciate the car’s confidence and comfort on any road condition.
