Man accused of attempted murder after lunging at Colorado Springs police

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Saturday night after he allegedly lunged at police officers with a 15-inch “edged weapon,” Colorado Springs police said.

Jeffrey Bricker was jailed on a $50,000 bond, according to El Paso County jail records.

The encounter occurred in a business in the 300 block of South Academy Boulevard, where Bricker had barricaded himself in a bathroom, police said.

The blade deflected off one officer’s bulletproof vest and the officer was not injured, police said.
