Castle Rock Film Festival now accepting film and screenplay submissions

All film festivals are open to films, of course, but only a tiny percentage also accept screenplay submissions from aspiring screenwriters. And the Castle Rock Film Festival, now gearing up for its third year, is the one from our state that does so.

The festival will be held September 30 to October 2 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

All film and screenplay submitters have the benefit of CRFF’s unique guarantees: a) every film/screenplay will be watched/read in its entirety, and b) they will be provided with in-depth, confidential judging feedback.

Separately, feature Trailer and Acting Reel submitters will benefit having their work shown to other filmmakers, actors, and general audience throughout the festival, starting with our Friday night “Trailer Park” Meet-n-Greet event, giving the feature Trailers and Actor Reels a unique exposure.

Here’s the scoop on submissions:

Student Films ($25): must be a high school or college student with valid id. The film length is 30 minutes or less. (Increases to $30 June 1st; and $35 July 15th) Submission closing date: 7/31/2011.

Short Films ($30): Any non-student, narrative or documentary films that are 30 minutes or less in length. (Increases to $40 June 1st ;and $50 July 15th) Submission closing date: 7/31/2011.

Feature Films ($35): Any narrative or documentary feature, considered commercial or not, between 50 and 110 minutes in length. (Increases to $45 June 1st; and $55 July 15th) Submission closing date: 7/31/2011.

Scripts (Feature length only) ($30): Any narrative or documentary feature script, considered commercial or not, between 50 and 110 minutes/pages in length. Hardcopies only. (Increases to $40 June 1st; and $50 July 15th) Submission closing date: 7/31/2011.

All feature, short and student film submitters are requested to also send in a trailer of their submitted film.

Trailers / Actor Reels ($10): This option is for anyone who wants to promote their full-length feature film, but aren’t prepared to submit the actual film at this time, or for those who want to promote their acting talent. The trailer / reel will be shown during the festival’s Friday night Meet-and-Greet “Trailer Park” party. The length must be at least 1 and no more than 2 minutes, including any credits. Trailers / reels will not be judged, and must be rated G or PG. Actor’s who previously submitted a reel to the CRFF are welcome to submit again. (Increases to $15 June 1st; and $20 July 15th) Submission closing date: 8/31/2011.
