Beacon Lite project hits phase 2
Phase 2 of the Beacon Lite Road Improvement Project began on Aug. 17.
Beacon Lite Road will remain closed to through traffic through the project area while local access to homes and businesses is maintained.
Phase 2 will feature storm sewer installation on Wakonda Way. “Local traffic only” barricades will remain in place at the south fork of Wakonda Way and through traffic will continue to follow the signed detour.
The northern full closure will shift farther north as crews continue waterline and storm sewer installation. This closure is expected to remain in place for two weeks.
“Crews have made strong progress on the waterline installation and are working to complete the waterline tie-in before Phase 2 begins,” the El Paso County Department of Public Works said in a news release. “A concrete barrier will be used to protect the excavation while maintaining access through the southern portion of Beacon Lite Road.”
Access to homes and businesses will remain available during Phase 2 but some residents may need to enter or exit from a specific direction depending upon the location of the construction.
The signed through-traffic detour will remain in place using: Palmer Divide Road, Indi Drive, Aries Drive, and Wakonda Way.
“The project team will continue providing updates as work progresses and before the project transitions into the next construction phase,” the release said. “DPW thanks residents and drivers in advance for their patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed.”
