Cripple Creek Arts Alliance features local artists
Creativity and artists flourish in southern Teller County this month. Following shows throughout the month, the Cripple Creek Arts Alliance hosts the grand finale that begins with an artists’ reception on Sept. 26. The show runs through Oct. 4 at the Cripple Creek Heritage Center.
The show features guest artists Kathy Walden, known as the “gourd-tastic lady” and Amy Burham, a potter.
Formed in 2017 to provide a showcase for Teller County artists, the alliance features a show every year in Cripple Creek, even during the COVID years of 2020 and 2021.
This year’s show honors the late Ken Keegan, who designed posters for the alliance as well as the Two Mile High Club and Victor Celebrates the Arts. Keegan was a former cartoonist for the Ute Pass Courier, the original name of the Pikes Peak Courier. “We’re going to miss him,” said Jon Zimmer, founding member of the alliance.
In addition to Zimmer, the artists include Vera Egbert, Tim Penland and Sofia Balas.
The artists’ reception is from 12 to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at the heritage center. The show runs every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 4 at the heritage center.
