Florissant Fire Rescue board member del Toro passes
The community of Florissant is mourning the news that Paul del Toro, a well-known and admired member of the community, peacefully passed away at his home on July 17.
Del Toro was the president and vice president of the Florissant Fire Protection District Board of Directors since 2023. He was highly respected by those who knew him.
“The entire FFPD community mourns the passing of Director Paul del Toro,” FFPD Board President Jim McGovern said in an email. “Paul was a tireless advocate for FFPD and the community. He was instrumental in guiding FFPD through difficult times and bringing stability and growth to the Department.
“Always thoughtful, kind, and respectful, Paul welcomed community input and always put the best interests of the community first. He was a friend and mentor to me and other Board members. He will be sorely missed, but we are immensely grateful for the time and service he provided.”
A Memorial Table will be set up at the FFPD Pancake Breakfast on July 25 with a place for cards and memorials. The family has requested that donations be made to FFPD.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
