Lit star honors firefighters
The Palmer lake Star was illuminated on June 30 in memory of the three firefighters who lost their lives while responding to wildfires along the Colorado-Utah border.
“The Town of Palmer Lake joins communities across Colorado in honoring their service and sacrifice and extends its heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and fellow firefighters,” a press release said. “As the Star shines over Palmer Lake this evening, we invite the community to take a moment to remember these heroes and keep all firefighters and first responders in their thoughts.”
Education accolades
- Roberto Kingsley and Michael Taylor, both from Monument, graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
- Liz Norris, Daniel O’Halloran and Bennett Patrick, all from Monument, were named to an honor roll at the University of Wyoming.
- Clara M Holland of Monument was named dean’s honor roll for spring 2026 at Wichita State University.
- Monument’s Carolyna Truong, a senior majoring in Biology, was named to the president’s honor roll at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Neb.
